Sending our children to Monarch Montessori School was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Choosing Montessori for your little one is a big decision and it should be made with a great deal of thought. Once you walk into Monarch though, you simply can't imagine sending your child anywhere else and I feel so fortunate that all 3 of my children will attend. The first thing you notice is that it is so inviting- warm and welcoming- it just feels like home. Then you slowly begin to notice the 22 kids that are all quietly, peacefully, HAPPILY, and dutifully working on their own work. Wait- how is this possible you wonder! How are they doing this? Is that child pouring water? Arranging flowers? Gracefully and carefully walking around the room so as not to disturb the other children? Doing MULTIPLICATION?? I've seen many preschool classrooms and this just doesn't happen! The answer? The teachers at Monarch are just magical. There is no other way to describe them! The students are focused on their work which has been very carefully prepared according to Montessori practices. The teachers observe, challenge and guide your child with the amount of patience that I have trouble mustering on my very best of days. They are genuinely interested in all that your child has to share. It honestly brings happy tears to my eyes when I am in the classroom. You can just feel the love at this school. They teach your child how to be successful in life. They are not just focused on preparing your child for the next grade. These tiny children are learning life long lessons in preschool- not just their colors and numbers- and LOVING it. One of the best aspects of Montessori is that each child is challenged at their level and will be doing work that is specifically designed for their abilities. The confidence my pre-schooler has gained is phenomenal and my other daughter graduated Kindergarten from Monarch subtracting 4 digit numbers with borrowing and reading on easily a 4th grade level, if not higher. The multi-age classrooms really helped her blossom in so many areas. She emerged a true leader with the ability to successfully help teach and guide younger children which deepened her own understanding of many concepts.
Montessori is such a good fit for so many types of children (really pretty much all in my opinion) that even if you haven't considered it, think your child isn't the right temperment or don't know much about it, you owe it to your child to educate yourself. It just makes so much sense! There is reason and purpose behind every lesson, and that, coupled with hands on activities which develop true understanding of concepts, makes the Montessori method so powerful. There is NO busy work, no memorization without understanding, and lots of individual attention. Who wouldn't want that?! As a former 3rd grade public school teacher, Montessori is the answer to all the things I began to question and dislike about how our children are being taught. I have such complete faith and trust in Monarch that I literally do not worry about my child or their education at all. Not one bit! It is a huge weight lifted off my shoulders to know that my children are getting the love, attention and education that they deserve.
